Phall, Phunctional, Poultrypalooza!

Jessica, this one's for you!

Her challenge? Take this here sparklie and make something with it.

Meet Poultryrachie! The sparkliest hen in town...

I appliqued that thar sparklie onto some of this here broadcloth and all of a sudden it twas like one of them Rorschach globs done and bit me in the rear. It twas a chicken I tell ya...yesindeedee!

...At any rate, I've got bins and bins of felt pieces so I took a handful and fashioned a head, wings, tail and feet with my trusty shears. Then I worked some simple embroidery magic (emphasis on simple peeps - chain stitch is my bestest and oh, the ONLY embroidery stitch I am really proficient at) on the felt cut-outs and appliqued those around the sparklie for a bit of poultry seasoning, if you will.

Legs were crocheted with size 10 variegated thread and then appliqued onto the broadcloth ground as well.

Here's the best part...It's functional!

Yep, when I finished with the appliques I tossed my needle, thread and thimble in the basket, busted out my White and sewed this poultrylicious wonder into an APRON!

And you thought I didn't have it in me...

  8. Thanks you guys! I think it turned out pretty well, considering I've not used my sewing machine in a queen's age! I hand sew lots of stuff...but you know, it's all like riding a bike. Anyway, lots more Phall Poultry to show...

Love it! I would wear it out and about. Am envious of your 'bins and bins of felt pieces', too.
