I don't know about you, but I'm always interested to see where artists create their work. It's definitely the voyeur in me. I gravitate toward books and other media that provide me a glimpse inside these inner worlds. So, in honor of my second blogiversary (hard to believe I know), I thought it would be cool to give you a look around my workspace.
First and foremost, the cabinetry...
Or as I like to refer to these very special wooden repositories that reside in the second bedroom of our home, LadyLino's House O' Yarn! Yes, each dresser/armoire/cabinet and adjacent closet (not shown) are filled, and I do mean to the brim, with yarn and all of the collateral accoutrements. I should've opened them before snapping the pic, but I though it was too, uh, yarnographic.
Next stop, my Craftobrary...
...Which conveniently resides next to my sleeping head. God help me in the next earthquake. Although, death by craft book burial may be preferable to other forms of demise. Ahem...moving right along.
I am a huge proponent of acquiring inspiring materials as well as general reference tomes. Not only can I solve project and design technical issues right snappy just by merely cracking the spine of one of my Craftobrary compendiums, but by simply perusing some of the books and periodicals I've acquired I can jump start my blocked muse in a matter of moments.
From the Craftobrary we move onto the nerve center where all things crocheted and knitted take their first breath here at LabLinoleum...
Yes, that's my chair. It's big. It's bold. It's super comfy. And it sits next to my daylight lamp, which is currently preventing early onset blindness due to too much needlework. If you don't own one of these lamps, I highly recommend it.
So, that's it, the core spaces of creative output here at the Lab. Now, it's your turn. I'm interested to see your centers for creativity. If you so choose, please take a pic of your workspace and post on your blog. Then, if you'd be so kind, drop me a line so I can peer into your inner creative world. Come on. You know you wanna...

Heehee--right now my "workspace" consists of various bags and totes of yarn strewn about the living room and bedroom. You're so organized! Perhaps it's time I took a page from your book and get an armoire dedicated especially to the craft...
Erk. At the moment I'm in mid-move, my workspace is mostly my bed, which is one of the few pieces of furniture that haven't been moved yet.
Sadly, my yarn stash is packed and moved (apart from current projects that I kept out). I am suffering from separation anxiety.
oh, hunny...I just moved and its still an ugly state of affairs. You think your cabinets are "yarnographic"? My house is "crapographic" currently...
I wanna, I really do, but it's such a mess. Every day I sit at my crafty space and tell myself it's time to straighten things up. But I end up crafting instead. I just took a quick pic of one corner. I may put it up, just to show you the mess. Or I may wait until this weekend and clean up first. :-)
Well, I took some photos with the intention of posting them tomorrow. Not exciting, though, I fear. And certainly no cabinetry involved. ;)
HAPPY TWO YEARS! Havent we hear in blogville been lucky to have you : )
Instead of showing you my inner world, can't I just move into yours?
Man. That is awesome. Is the chair in the same room as the armoires of yarn?
My latest entry, while not about my space so much, shows...well...my space. Don't mind the ugly wall and shell colors in the office. They were here when we moved in. Ack.
I like how more together your space it. You're quite organized!
Oh now you know all of us who use the yarn love to see the yarn porn. And with you leaving the cabinets shut is like watching a striptease.
Yea ok it's early and that's all I got.
:)
Love the shades of orange there! So pretty. My workspace is my futon. I keep current projects and materials in baskets underneath it, kinda like drawers, I can slide them out, sit on the couch or a big floor cushion and spread everything out and work while I watch a DVD or listen to music.
thank you for that TOUR! love the chair and the workspace. i have to get one of those lamps. i AM almost blind. eek. you have prompted a clean up in the space o art here and i will post that next week.
after all, it's spring! (finally)
Hi there! I just wanted to make sure you're aware that your blog is in the queue for the Fiber Arts Bloggers ring, because you don't have any code up. I just sent you the code again--please let me know if you don't get it? I'd love to get you back in the ring. :)
Hey, I finally got to catch your appearance on Uncommon Threads, it reran yesterday on HGTV. Very exciting! You certainly make it look easy! Bravo!
I posted my work spaces. Go take a peek.
That's a very normal looking home for someone who comes up with the stuff you do!
Sa-wheeeeeeet. love the chair. And the neatness of it all. Mine's spread about the crappalicious crappy little apt. Sigh.
Ya'll are too organizaed for me.
That chair looks incredibly comfy! I love the 'my workplace' theme -- it would be fun to do a general 'where I knit/crochet' all around and post pictures. Only question I have: how does the daylight lamp stay on the chair?
Happy *two years*..we want to see you and your creativeness for another 22222222222+ years.
LOVE the chair and ottoman! I never thought about it too much, but I certainly had a preferred crochet sitting area, and I miss it greatly!!! No other chair or sofa works the same. Can't wait to get it out of storage!! Happy blogoversary, and thanks for sharing for all of us other voyers around here... :)
Wow! Your work place is so inviting ! I'm currently in the moving stage .....so I too am going through the separation syndrome. I have only by current projects to hold on to with me .All else is packed up in boxes....so many. I just know that I'll have take up one pof the rooms as my craft room.
Selena - Took me quite some time to get my space to this organizational level. I too had bags and totes galore strewn about the place. From there I moved to plastic bins. Finally, I just started aquiring furniture to keep it all organized. Just takes time.
Stacey, Christianne, Yasmin - I feel for you. I HATE moving. Hang in there.
Nano - Just take it one bit at a time. If you look at it from the macro perspective, the mess can seem overwhelming. I organize a little bit every day. That cuts into any feeling I may have regarding the size and scope of the project. Try it!
Sus - You are totally organized. And as I told you on your blog, I love that you are using your dad's old chair.
Sally - You're welcome at my home anytime! The cabinets are located in one of my bedrooms, whilst my chair resides in the living room.
Amie - Before moving into our condo, we painted and re-floored the entire space. It was a mess when we bought it. It was a pain, but actually, doing the work before moving in was the best decision we ever made! I realize that is not practical for everyone, but if it's possible, I highly recommend it.
Gina - Thanks girlie!
Micky - My yarn stash is rather excessive and is a little embarrassing to expose. LOL
Heather - Thanks! I like the orange too. Reminds me of a mango. Futon organization sounds good to me!
Susan - Thanks! I'm telling you, that lamp is the best thing in the world!
Sue - Glad you got a chance to see it. Feels like forever and a day from when we did that show. It's still just as weird to watch however. I think your space looks great, btw!
Desperate Housewife - I know huh? I am very much into earth tones and antiques. Straight on the outside, twisted on the inside. LOL
MonkeyGurrrrrl - Oh come on! I'm sure your apartment is not crappy. Puhhhhleeeeeze.
Andi - I am totally OCD about my stuff. I get anxious when things are chaotic. Really, it's a survival skill for me.
Batty - The lamp is a floor lamp. It is actually situated behind my chair.
Jannikinz - Thanks my dear!
Steve - I'm with ya on familiar furniture making a difference. Thank you!
Thanks for the glimpse into your craft world. I will be posting mine on Sunday. I need to do... ahem a little cleaning first. ;)
Thank you for the lovely compliment. Coming from you that means alot!
the bottom of my latest entry has my pictures... brace yourself, its a mess...
Lady L, Thanks for commenting on my blog. Sorry I have not posted much for the past few months but I will definitely start posting soon. I have just moved and I have not had the time to even organize my craft corner but once I do I plan on posting some pics.
