Blah-Blockers

It seems as though there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel with regard to my lingering case of The Blahs. Thanks so much for your comments/advice addressing my last post/conundrum. I found your "golden nuggets" to be exceedingly helpful and uplifting.

To this end, I've also employed other efforts to thwart my attitude into adjustment by making my reappearance at WeHo SNB (located at the Original Farmers Market) the Thursday before last. I missed the girls (and boys!) a bunch! It was so nice to sit, talk, laugh, fiddle with sticks and hooks and just generally get caught up with the goings on. Oh, and of course there were pressies!

My girl Kendra was finally able to liberate the Christmas present she created for me from her vehicle...

He/She's (don't know yet) a monster...

...and a sketchbook!

Wanna know the best part? This monster is removable! Yep, when I've filled this book up I can transfer the Fuzz-Master (I believe I just named this being Kendra) to a new sketchbook. Kendra is a genius!

Another Blah-blocker I employ quite often is the "Lena Factor". Yep, my child is a creative genius. Everything the offspring conjures up is not only a delight to behold, but her art is always an inspiration to me when I'm feeling blocked, blah-ed or blue.

Check out one of Lena's newest softies....

I love that she crocheted a trio of shawls for the little square one so as to ward off winter's chill...

After completion of the project above Lena blew through this bracelet, which she bestowed upon her mother during the height of her blue period...

Finally, the offspring rounded out her make-fest of last weekend by rescuing one of my abandoned eyeballs and coaxed it into bloom with a little DMC and a lot of painstaking effort...

I think that this eyeball makes for some very fetching flora. Don't you agree?

My third and final blah-blocker can be attributed to finishing one of my many lingering WIPs! Can I get a hallelujah?

I wish I could show you more, but this one's going to a publisher and technically once received, they own the design. Here's a peak though...

Wishing all of you a safe, happy and blah-free weekend! Smoochies all around!

The blahs are hard to kick sometimes. I hope yours departs soon. :) But you can't be creative all the time, your mind may just be needing a break... a vacation if you will. Hugs!

Lena looks to be a chip off the ol' block. You taught her well, Momma! The eyeball project is really awesome.

YAY LENA!!!!

She really is awesome. I love the shawls for the softie. I love the eyeball, which could either be seen as a flower, or as an eye in a pool of blood (which I prefer). She is the bestest.

And its great to see you too.

We're testifying loudly down here, particularly to the blahblocking power of a Creative Genius...

Don't know what we'd do without them.

Hey Lady L,
I hope the blahs go away for you soon! I too take great joy in my daughter's creativity..she's a much better knitter and crocheter than I and she oil paints, plays piano and is a pre-pro ballerina. She has the same b-day as your Lena. 2-3-93 no? You are so amazing and she and I both enjoy your blog and creations so much and Lena's too! We've made your hot dog scarf and wings (but I somehow deleted the pattern and didn't print it out...ugh) and she has plans to start the Gollum hat soon. Take care and happy crafting.

Lena's projects brought a smile to my face, too! It's awesome that she made so many accessories for her softee.

Getting rid of the blahs can be difficult. Here are some of my tips and tricks: Make sure you do something for yourself, something special. Ask for lots of hugs and get some exercise (hard and heart pounding) if possible. Not only will it get everything circulating better, you might also work through some blahness issues at the same time. And last, but definitely not least, is that you should increase your daily intake of dark chocolate by 200% or more (another reason to exercise).

(((hugs))) for Lady Linoleum.

(is that a fetus blaket?)

The kid's a genius! :)

I've been enjoying my blahs. I've had time for other things. Haven't made anything since October. Well, I did cut up some Flor samples and frame them but that doesn't count. I've found the blahs quite liberating. I'm finally getting around to the Big Move.

I'm going to give you some virtual hugs but don't tell anyone. {{LL}}

Glad you're feeling better! That's some gorgeous stuff you girls are making up there! I see a designer in the making here. A stitch off the ol' chart!

That peek looks awesome, and your emergency blah banishing techniques are invaluable.

I tend to turn to books, taking random pictures, or trying to do things for other people (not as altruistic as it sounds, seeing as the goal is to feed my own ego) to stave off the blahs.

Or napping. A lot.

Neat work by Lena....maybe you can ask her to make you a headband with one or two eyeballs on it!...Now that would be hoot to behold.
