Jeepers Peepers Cape

Always trying to get a jump on the Halloween season here at ChezLinoleum. As such, there's nothing like a passel of felted bloodshot eyeballs to put me in the spirit of all things orange and black!

Presenting the Jeepers Peepers Cape...

Modeled by my co-cube farmer, Sunny!

This behemoth of knitdom was created using my favorite crunchy synthetic, Red Heart Super Saver, then adorned with a pile of felted balls.

It took me about 2 weeks (not working daily) and 1200 yards of acrylic to knit this puppy in stockinette stitch (with garter stitch border) from top to bottom. The points were worked individually. It 'twas actually a quick and easy knit for me as I knit continental and am a bit of a knitting speed demon.

In fact I think it took me longer to felt the eyeballs and hand sew them onto felt backing. Not to mention the fact that I then had to hand sew them onto the cape itself once backed. Yep, that took a while.

I like the effect though.

Now all I need is some matching headgear. No, wait. I've got it!

MATCHING GOGGLES!!!

Yeah, definitely more to come...

Eeee! I love it. Definitely gives new meaning to the phrase "I've got my eye on you." LOL

hahaha that is so fun and funny! Why did you feel the need to put more felt on the back of the eyeballs tho? Just curious!

So. Much. Black. Stockinette. Stitch. Your poor eyes(the ones in your head, that is).

I envy your will power to take on such tasks. The final result is fantastic.

I can't believe you knit that cape in two weeks! I knit continental too but the purling still goes slow. I'm so impressed.

Thanks guys!

Tiff - I wanted the eyeballs to have a "patch" like quality, a certain stiff-ness that could only be had by backing them with felt.

Red Rocket - Don't worry about my eyes too much. I don't look at my knitting much when I'm working. I have to look at my crocheting, but not knitting. My eyes are saved!

Rina - you'll get there! I've been knitting for 30 years. If I wasn't speedy it would be sad.

What kind of gas are you on?Think you qualify for a knitting speedingticket! No way I could finish that big a project in only two weeks!
