Holiday Diamond Shawl

I know, I've made tons of these at this point. Nonetheless, here's the latest one...

I am calling this woven and crocheted wonder the Holiday Diamond Shawl for obvious reasons. Methinks I might need a gnome hat to go with it. I see a bit of felting in my future...

Ahem.

What can I say? I am addicted to lap looms, diamond shaped lap looms to be specific. I really should move onto a different shape. After all I have lap looms in various shapes at my disposal: rectangles; squares; tumbling blocks (yes, just like the quilt of the very same name); triangles and hexagons. Ahhhh, so many looms, so little time!

This latest version of my now ubiquitous diamond shawl was woven from many a skein of Jo-Ann Sensations Rainbow Boucle. I had a box of this stuff. Okay, so I have a thing for textured acrylic. Don't judge.

Anyway, I like the way the weave of the fabric just seemingly disappears into a mass of bumpy goodness...

I crocheted all of the diamonds together with some coned black wool that I had laying around and voila, one more diamond shawl gracing the dedicated shawl shelf in my closet.

All in all, a satisfying project, made sweeter by the fact that I used up pretty much all of the stash boucle in the box! Woo Hoo!

Hi how are you?

I was looking through your blog, and I found it interesting, and inspiring to me, so I thought why not leave you a comment.

I too have a blog that I use out of Southern California here in San Diego.

Mostly it is a collection of artistic expression, and I have many friends with the same interests, maybe you can become my friend, and follow, and I can also follow you, if that is okay.

Well I hope to hear from you soon, and or read about you….LOL

Sincerely,
Jesse

Totally fab shawl. Lovin' it.

I just bought a little triangle loom this weekend at the Torrance fiber festival. My first little swatch is on my blog. It's a little wonky. Trying to figure out the tension and what the hell I am doing, but so fun.

Looking forward to checking out a gnome cap in the future.

Wow. That boucle looks way better woven than any other way I've seen it. That shawl is gorgeous. It reminds me of stained glass.

And I too am looking forward to the gnome hat!!

Once again, you've created a MASTERPIECE out of very, very ordinary components! Brilliant!

I love how the boucle striped, and how regular you managed to get each diamond. It's beautiful, and I know how much of a pain that particular brand of yarn can be.

it's gorgeous! I love the diamonds. Reminds me of a quilt pattern that looks like a sunburst pattern (I don't know it's rightful name).

You know, the diamond shapes, joined by the black crochet into a circular (well, half-circular) shape remind me of Tiffany lamps. You might wanna look into those for inspiration. If you need any... you seem to be chugging along well enough without his input. :)

Lovely work, and as always I'm impressed at your industriousness. I'd do one diamond, go "that was cool", and forget it. You make WHOLE GARMENTS. Really impressed, here.

I love your diamond shawls--I really need to try making one, right after making the vest I originally bought the diamond loom for. This could take a while. *grin*

This is just beautiful! It looks like stained glass in the picture...especially since you used black to join the pieces...

I love your work! I can't wait to see what you do next!

I started out crocheting, then got into loom knitting, I recently and finally figured out how to knit with needles, and plan on trying out my new drop spindle any day now.... and now you've got me itching to try out weaving! *shakes a fist*

Your shawl is absolutely stunning! I just love the stained glass look, and the weaving and stitching all look so even and lovely. Just beautiful!

I wove up a bunch of 14" diamonds using the same yarn in an variegated blue and white. never figure out what to do with them, do you mind if I 'steal' your idea?!
