Creative Limits (or Horizons)

Found this meme on Sally's blog. If you'd like to participate please do, for I choose not to tag anyone.

1. I have no interest in the following activities:
Scrapbooking; stamping; altered and embellished clothing and accessories (however, I wouldn't turn down a Bedazzler if given one as a gift); jewelry making; glass making or glass blowing(although I love this guy's work); basketry (again love it, appreciate it, just don't want to do it); horticulture; ice sculpture; video game design; record album crafts; candle making; soap making.

2. Would love to try these things:
Pottery/ceramics; crewel embroidery; spinning; wood carving with a chain saw (really, I WOULD!); make an entire chain mail garment; metalsmithing; photography (black and white); egg tempera painting; hairpin lace; tatting; leather craft; marquetry; vinification (only after learning how to carve a bear out of a tree trunk with my chainsaw...a girl's got priorities); screenwriting; tattooing.

3. I do or have dabbled in these things:
Porcelain dollmaking; weaving (floor loom mostly); sewing; embroidery; silk screen printing; needle felting; boiled wool feltmaking; dyeing; needlepoint; latch hook; tole painting (hey, it was the 70's and I was a kid!); woodworking (in a shop); woodturning; welding; mold making; additive and subtractive sculptural processes; lost wax casting; installation sculpture; 3D design; painting (acrylic, oil, watercolor, gouache); drawing; origami; 2D and graphic design; digitial imaging; bookmaking; papermaking; cooking.

4. Love it! These are my things:
Crocheting; knitting; clothing and accessory design; making dolls and puppets; writing.

Wow, number 4 seems a little sparse. What can I say? I. Love. Yarn.

I'm with ya on the scrapbooking. Why should I do that when Apple can do it so well for me with minimal effort and very afforably?

I'd love to try glass blowing if it weren't for the whole breathe-in-by-accident and die part.

Tatting. That stuff is difficult, sister. Good luck.

And there is nothing wrong finding what you are good at and sticking with it. I think they call it refining your craft. Number four should be the smallest list, I think.

If you're into crochet, you can tat. There are HOW TO TAT videos on my web site at:
www.tattedlace.com or
www.gagechek.com/slb and written instructions on my blog at:
http://sharonstattedlace.blogspot.com/2007/01/how-to-tat.html
Tatting isn't hard if you just relax and start with doing chains.

Let's try this again. Thanks for linking to my blog. :o) And I'm with Briana on the tattoo thing, although I must say I would totally try glass-blowing.

I love love Chihuly glass! I've seen his stuff at the Victoria & ALbert in London, and at the Mohegan Sun casino in CT--as well as at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I could never do it, but I love to look at it!

Very impressive, but we always knew you were creative :)

My sister has tatted and I've blown glass (in college) Both of us think scrapbooking is perhaps the most over-rated, useless thing on the planet. I told her about the skirt and she thinks it's a cool idea as well.

Seems there are never enough hours to accomplish all the hobbies I want...

I live in New Jersey, and was recently inside the Borgata casino/hotel in Atlantic City. Dale Chihuly did massive chandeliers and floor-mounted columnar sculptures all throughout the main gaming floor and in and around the area where guests check in. They're of his swirly, flame-like style, in combinations of yellow/green/blue and clear/orange/red. (There's an example of each on his website.) Simply lovely!
