Coming to you from Lost Wages...

Oh yes peeps, yesterday my fabulous 12 hour workday was punctuated by an afternoon McFlight to Las Vegas. Now, under normal circumstances LadyLinoleum + Las Vegas = Lotso Fun. Under current circumstances LadyLinoleum + Las Vegas + 200 Bankers from The Cube Farm = Notso Lotso Fun...

That having been said, I do like this year's hotel choice, Red Rock Resort, even if it is way, way, waaaaaaaaaaay off The Strip. Like $40 cab fare off The Strip. Are you feeling my pain? Good.
Anyhoo, The Cube Farm hosts this Retreat (read working 12 hours a day, every minute of the 12 hours scheduled with activity whether it be presentations, presentations that discuss other presentations, meetings, meetings to discuss whether we should be having more meetings, just footsteps away from a casino is seemingly very rejuvenating) every year at a different venue in Las Vegas (or in this case Summerlin, hence the cab fare). In anticipation of this yearly celebration of our firm, I, in turn, attempt to devise ways in which to extricate myself from this commitment. I know, hard to believe having been apprised of the fun that I'm sure to encounter here at the Satellite Cube Farm, oh so close, yet oh so far from the casino doors. Needless to say, my yearly attempts to extricate myself from this commitment usually result in a 12 hour workday punctuated by a McFlight to Lost Wages. So, here I am, luggage loaded with 40 lbs. of paper, pens sticking out of all orifices (okay, I agree, gross reference), overworked, stressed out, playing my Satellite Cube Farm Lackey role...

I thought I saw a bar near the hotel's business center though. So, all is not lost.

And there is always my carry-on bag filled to brim with yarn. Crocheting and knitting in the airport seems to be a theme with me as of late. I know that I don't talk about my WIPs much, but I am crocheting wings. Maybe they will be able to whisk me away from this banking torture. I can dream, can't I?

More from the road later...

I love Vegas, although never went on a "business" trip there. Red Rock Canyon is really nice, yes, very out of the freaking way-just the way they want cha!

Hang on-only a few more days to go.

Hey, could be worse. You could be going somewhere cold. :)

Try not to stab anyone with all those pens!

Wow, what torture!

I've been at "retreats" held at Club Med in Mexico three different times. It was pure suffering because as you said, every spare moment was scheduled out so there we all sat in meetings knowing the beautiful beach was literally outside the door. AARGH.

Anywho, come home soon, we miss you.

Oh mama, I feel your pain. I will be living your life in June when we go to "Lake Las Vegas" for our yearly "retreat" where we also work 12 hour days and are informed of all the fun we will be having covorting around the pool with our coworkers. Mmmm, right. Crochet yourself a pair of earmuffs to shield you from the brainwashing. Have strength and try to strangle as few people as possible!

Just had a look at the link to your hotel. I expect King King could climb over those rocks any minute now and whisk you away. That, or you'll have to crochet a King Kong to keep sane (?).

I hated corporate stuff in hotels - it brought out the most anti-social, rebellious side of me. Hope you get out of there soon.

I love Vegas although I know not why.

I never fully realized that you are not a WIP talker! Interesting. Adds to your mystique, I think.

I've been reading so much about Red Rock lately. You are on the cutting edge, once again.

I got married in LV, too, oddly enough. I hope your trip is less painful (or at least, doesn't have such far-reaching ramifications).

Geez, what kind of cube farm schedules retreats in Vegas (excuse me, Summerlin)- "Here, suffer MORE while you work...I feel your pain!

Oh man, that's just...my worst nightmare. I've been through it, and you have my heartfelt sympathies.

Ah yes...The Redrock. We were just in LV and saw numerous ads for the place...fancy schmancy!
Gail Knits is REALLY close to the Red Rock...check your yellow pages. It's in a big-box mall...very NICE store, NICE, NICE people. They speak OUR language. See you when you return. We miss you at SnB.

I can't wait to see the wings! Try not to go crazy at your "retreat."

Hey stranger, next time you go to Vegas, go to the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. It is worth it. Glad you are back. Hugs and kisses and Happy Birthday
